Leek And District Fly Fishing Association
Rules
- Members are required to wear their ID badge when fishing
- Members are expected to have a valid Environment Agency Rod Licence
- Fishing is allowed from dawn to dusk
- The season for brown trout fishing is from the 18th of March through to the 7th of October
- The season for grayling fishing is from the 16th of June through to the 15th of March
- All grayling and wild trout are to be safely returned
- Fishing is by fly only
- Only barbless or hooks where the barb has been removed must be used
- The maximum hook is size 10
- Only dry fly, emerger, traditional wet and nymph patterns can be used; no lures or streamer patterns are permitted
- No more than two flies can be fished on a cast
- Wading is allowed but a rod must not walk through a pool or run. Consideration must be given to spawning redds and other members
- The association's policy is catch and release, although an 'occasional brace' can be taken (River Hamps, Bentley/Bradbourne Brook and river Churnet are all 'catch and release')
- The takeable fish size limit is twelve inches (31cm)
- Only blue spot marked fish are allowed to be taken on the Dovedale to Milldale section
- No litter, leader materials or flies to be left or discarded
- All members are responsible for the care of and maintenance of the rivers flora and fauna
