Leek And District Fly Fishing Association

Working Parties

Leek and District normally hold three working parties a year, which are managed and coordinated by committee member Robert Goodwin.

Working parties allow us to maintain the sections of rivers we lease. The activities include:

  • Removing overgrown grass and weed from the river
  • Removal of fallen trees, rubbish and general debris
  • Reducing the canopy to increase light to the river, stimulating weed growth and insect life
  • Cutting back and generally tidying the river banks
The working parties normally last about half a day, starting about 9am and finishing around lunchtime, and are an excellent opportunity to meet other members, share ideas and discuss techniques and tactics for the season ahead. Some members like to stay on and fish the afternoons.

Leek and District encourages its members to take part in at least one working party a year, travelling permitted.
